No one was injured during a Monday afternoon fire which damaged Brenda's Country Kettle restaurant in Frankston.
The fire was reported around 2:30 p.m. Monday, and the building was evacuated, according to Barry Roberts, captain of the Frankston police reserve unit.
Roberts said the fire started in a smokehouse located in a rear building attached to the restaurant's main dining area. That building was "gutted," but the dining area was mostly spared, he indicated.
"It came over about six feet into the dining area," Roberts said.
Based on the isolated area of damage to the dining room, Roberts said he could see the restaurant which is located on Texas 155 inside the Frankston city limits being able to remain open.
The Frankston, Coffee City and Poynor volunteer fire departments responded to the fire.
