PALESTINE — A 41-year-old Palestine woman was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-vehicle wreck that occurred around 6:30 a.m. Friday on U.S. 175 near Frankston.

Angela Scott was the driver of an eastbound 2002 Toyota Sequoia SUV that was struck by a westbound semi-trailer tractor truck. The collision took place approximately two miles west of Frankston.

Scott was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace James Todd.

Gregory Dinger, 30, a resident of Hammond, La., was the driver of the semi-trailer tractor truck. Dinger was transported to East Texas Medical Center in Athens with non-life threatening injuries.

Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Jean Dark said the accident is still under investigation.

“Evidence at the scene shows the SUV entered the westbound lane and was struck by the westbound tractor truck semi trailer. The driver of the SUV was ejected, and the westbound side of 175 had restricted traffic flow due to emergency crews clearing the scene.”

Dark said that details of the cause of accident were unavailable at this time, while troopers attempt to reconstruct the scene.

“It's still an ongoing investigation,” she said.
