Texas Department of Public Safety officials say a 20-year-old Cherokee County man died late Wednesday night on U.S. 84, east of Palestine, in a single-vehicle wreck when he lost control of his Ford Mustang.
Daryn Keith Selman, 20, of Maydelle was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck by Anderson County Justice of the Peace Gary Thomas, according to the DPS.
A DPS official said the wreck occurred at approximately 11:03 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. 84, east of Palestine and approximately 1 1/2 miles east of FM 1137.
"Vehicle One (a 2006 Ford Mustang operated by Selman) was eastbound on U.S. 84, lost control, left the roadway and overturned," an Austin-based DPS spokesperson told the Herald-Press.
Selman, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not ejected from the vehicle, according to the DPS.
There were no other passengers in Selman's vehicle, the DPS spokesperson added.
DPS Trooper Leonard Sandifer is investigating the fatal wreck.
