Palestine Herald-Press

PALESTINE — Palestine Police Department officers are currently working a possible child abduction during which a young female victim was allegedly taken from a school bus stop to a suspect’s home on Monday.

According to PPD Sgt. James Muniz, officers from the PPD were dispatched to the home of the alleged victim, located in the 100 block of Brierwood Drive, where they met the victim and the her father.

“Police were informed that the victim was waiting for the school bus when a stranger approached (her),” Muniz said. “The victim reported being taken from the bus stop to another residence without her consent, but was able to exit the residence before being injured.”

Det. David Kassaw and Det. Cathy Weber are the lead investigators in the case and will be following up on information received during the initial stages of the investigation.

“Detectives have begun to talk with persons living in the area in an attempt to obtain further information and help in locating a possible suspect,” Muniz said.

Police are urging anyone who saw any suspicious person or suspicious vehicles during the incident to call the Palestine Police Department at 903-729-2254 or CRIME STOPPERS at 903-729-TIPS (8477).
