UPDATE: At 5 p.m. today, Sheriff Greg Taylor has told the Herald-Press that he received word from the medical examiner that the victims rescued from a fire in Elkhart have passed away.
A candlelight prayer vigil will be held at 8:30 p.m. tonight at the residence, located at the corner of Sheridan and Church Streets in Elkhart.
As of 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor had reported no change in status of two victims rescued from a fire in Elkhart on Wednesday morning.
“We checked in at Parkland Hospital and were told that they were still in very critical condition,” Taylor said. “We are continuing to monitor their status while at Parkland Hospital.”
The victims, a 19-year-old female and a 13 year-old male, were transported by medical helicopter to Parkland Hospital in Dallas on Wednesday after being rescued from a house fire in the 100 block of Sheridan Street.
A hospital spokesperson later confirmed with the Herald-Press that the two were listed as “critical.”
