Grapeland woman killed on one-vehicle crash

PALESTINE —

A Grapeland woman died in a one-vehicle crash Thursday on FM 228 east of Grapeland in Houston County.

Ginger Baggett Teems, 63, was traveling east on FM 228 in a 2010 Chevrolet HHR passenger vehicle (a multi-purpose crossover vehicle that was offered by Chevrolet from 2005 to 2011). She reportedly drove off the roadway in a curve and struck some trees, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety news release.

Teems was transported from the scene of the crash to a nearby church parking lot in an attempt to be transported by medical helicopter but passed away prior to being airlifted, the news release said.

Teems was pronounced deceased by Houston County Precinct 2 Justice of Peace Ronnie Jordan at 12:20 p.m. Thursday.

Teems was not wearing a seatbelt, the news release said.
