The newly-formed Palestine Police Department Drug Enforcement Unit arrested a total of six people over the last two days in attempt to crack down on the drug problem in Palestine.
The drug enforcement unit made a drug bust at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of Variah Street, arresting three male subjects and one female subject at the location.
Officers seized more than $500 in cash, scales, marijuana, meth, synthetic marijuana (commonly known as K2), crack cocaine as well as other drugs found at the location.
This unit currently consists of four officers who have been working extra hours — including nights and weekends — getting these warrants and making these arrests, according to Palestine Police Dept. Sgt. James Muniz.
In an unrelated incident, the unit also arrested one male and one female around 7:50 p.m. Tuesday during a traffic stop at Church and Lacy streets after receiving a tip. The officers seized 2 1/2 lbs. of marijuana, K2 and several bottles of PCP.
The names of the individuals who were arrested are not being released at this time, as the subjects are waiting arraignment.
