SLOCUM 68, Leon 50
For the first few minutes, it appeared as if the seventh-ranked Slocum girls’ basketball team would have its hands full with Leon.
Then, Valerie Larkin and Landry Lane took over.
The duo combined for 20 first quarter points, spearing a rally that saw Slocum go from down 10-3 early in the first to up 23-13 at the end of the frame. From there, the Lady Mustangs didn’t look back.
Larkin finished with a game-high 31 points for the Lady Mustangs, while Lane finished with 20 — all coming in the first half.
The Lady Mustangs host rival Grapeland Friday, with games beginning at 4 p.m.
