CAYUGA HIGH SCHOOL

l December Student of the Month — Cory Perry was chosen student of the month for December. He is the son of Tim and Vickie Perry. Cory has been a member of the varsity football and baseball teams. He has received the following football awards: All State First Team Center, All District First Team Center and First Team All Academic. He plans to attend college in and become a coach.

• January Student of the Month — Jade Kelley was chosen student of the month for January. She is the daughter of Jerry Don and Melissa Kelley. Jade is a varsity cheerleader and a member of the varsity volleyball team. She received All-District Honorable Mention honors in volleyball. She is a member of National Honor Society and FFA. She was elected Treasurer of NHS this year. She attended the National Young Leaders conference in Washington, D. C. Jade plans to attend Tyler Junior College in the fall and major in business management.



CAYUGA MIDDLE SCHOOL

l Student of the Day — The following students were selected as the “Student of the Day” for the week of Jan. 26: Preston Anderson; Savannah Meider; Reul Bauder; Chance Harding; and Kara Kollars.

l Box Tops — Cayuga Middle School is collecting Box Tops for Education. Please send box tops to Mrs. Griffey. Grades are competing. The winning class will receive a pizza party.

l Gold Medalist of the Week — Our “Gold Medalist” for this week is eighth grader, Brandon Batton. He is the son of Jacque Batton of Montalba and Jason Batton of Teague. Brandon participates in football, basketball, track, and Little Dribblers. He also enjoys hunting, fishing, riding 4-wheelers, and mud-dogging. Brandon enjoys CMS because it is a fun school, it's easy, and he loves to play football.

l Basketball Results — Congratulations to the eighth grade Ladycats and Wildcats on defeating Hubbard. The Ladycats won 43-18. Shawnta Knox was the leading scorer with 19 points. Taylor Wagner scored 15, Tiffany Gray 5, and Molly Griffey and Emily Riggleman had 2 each.

The eighth grade boys won 36-12. Preston Anderson was the high point player with 10, while Patrick Boxie and Deon Shofner had 6 each. Jaret Walthall added 5, D'Onte Jackson 4, Devin Kanetzky and Brandon Batton 2 each and Brayden Walthall 1.

The seventh grade girls lost 25-12. Danielle Anderson was the top scorer with 11, while Macie Croft chipped in 1.

The seventh grade boys lost 23-19. Cota Wilburn and Kent Pickle scored 5 points each. Breck Alexander added 4 points, Payton Wallace 3, and Chance Harding 2.

Congratulations to the Cayuga Middle School Wildcats on defeating Dawson. The seventh grade boys won 30-24. The Wildcats were led by Kent Pickle with 11 and Cota Wilburn 10. Payton Wallace added 5, Chance Harding 3, and Breck Alexander 1. The eighth grade boys won 38-9. D'Onte Jackson was the top scorer with 10, Preston Anderson had 9, Don Holly and Deon Shofner had 6 each, Brayden Walthall 4, and Patrick Boxie 3. The seventh grade girls lost in a tough battle 17-14. Danielle Anderson was the leading scorer with 8, Cory McCulloch scored 4, and Brooke January chipped in 2.

l Model United Nations Competition — Several CMS students participated at SFA this week in the Model UN competition that is put on by ESC Region 7.

The following CMS students that participated are and their assigned countries are: Sudan — Cody Fitzpatrick, Caleb Stroney, Rebecca Slate and Rachel Little; Chile — Maci Poland, Victoria Ortiz and John Brown; Spain — Kolby Radford, Matthew McNeill, Rance Rushing, Kade Helms and Parker Turner; Ukraine — Mary Davis, Paige Boxie, Sha Jenkins and Stephen Slater; United Kingdom — Meagan Poland, Shawnta Know, Taylor Wagner, Emily Riggleman and Preston Anderson; Canada — Hunter Jenkins, Reann Richards, Courtney Hearrell, Molly Griffey and Macie Croft; Australia — Adam Wicker.

CMS came home with five awards: United Kingdom received first place map and second place Best Delegation in WFP summit; Canada received third place map and second place Best Delegation in the General Assembly and Australia received third place Best Delegation in ECOSOC summit.

Mrs. Daniel and Mrs. Grasty would like all those who participated and their parents to know that we are proud of you all and thank you for your hard work. Thank you to the HS Parliamentarians — Kyle Campbell, Wesley Owens and Kalli Jo Radford with their help. Thanks to Mrs. Brown for driving us safely.

l Hollywood Dance — CMS STUCO held a dance Friday night and the theme was Hollywood Night of Stars. Mrs. Daniel would like to thank the “Student Council Stars” for the outstanding job they did in preparation and participation.

Special thanks goes out to the following: Debbie Anderson, Laura Poland and Terri Vickery for creating the amazing decorations; all the parents who came to chaperone; CMS faculty and staff for chaperoning and help with preparation; Mr. Wilson and the CISD maintenance staff for all of their help and CMS Principal Sherri McInnis for all of her support and help. We would also like to say thanks to all the students who came, it was a fun night!
