“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” Franklin Roosevelt. He also went on to state that the nameless, unjustified terror we feel turns advance into retreat.
Have you ever felt fear? Of course you have, we all have felt fear. The truth is that the actual act of doing something that causes you fear is not the real cause of what you fear. It is the anticipation of the actual act that is causing the fear.
If you can remember the first time you rode a roller coaster you may recall that the anticipation of boarding the car to begin the ride was actually what caused you fear. Once you actually boarded the car and the ride began, it wasn’t actually fear but excitement that you felt.
To become fearless there is really a very simple solution since fear is actually an illusion. Your mind makes up the circumstances that cause the fear and when you think about them the fear increases.
If you will spend a short half a minute or less doing what you fear, quickly you will find that what Franklin Roosevelt said was true. You only have to fear is fear because the thing you fear is only an illusion.
Zig Ziglar defined fear as False Evidence Appearing Real
Your brain is only interested in your survival. Anything that causes resistance in your brain…basically anything it has not done before…will cause fear.
If you really want to have a breakthrough in your life, face the fear that your mind is creating and spend half of one minute, turn off your brain and run straight toward the thing that you fear most.
Now you know that you have a twisted mind. It twists reality and turns mole hills into mountains. Don’t allow your mind to enlarge the reality into a magnified mess. Think about right now, this minute. Don’t think about the consequences of the action that you take. Think only about the task. I am not saying that you should haphazardly do things that present danger to you or your future. There is a difference in Danger and Fear. I am saying, if you have a goal and need to perform certain tasks in order to reach your goal but you have reservations (fear) about doing them because you might not be successful, then you should close your eyes, take a deep breath and run as hard and fast as you can toward that the one thing that you fear.
Don’t walk, run! Face your fears and I will see you at the top!
