MIDDLE SCHOOL
• Math Technology — The middle school math department is sharing with parents about the technology available for the new Glencoe textbooks. Students can go online for extra practice, tutoring, animations, or math fun. The site can be reached through the Middle School section at www.elkhartisd.org, or parents can request a copy of the Student Works CD to be used offline at home.
• Student Council— Student council sign-ups are in full swing. The students will begin campaigning next week, and elections will be held Sept. 21.
• Ag Science — The EMS Agriculture Science classes are getting into the swing of life in the Ag Building. They have been studying agriculture shop safety so that the will be able to work safely and responsibly in the lab. Soon they will be learning about Hunter Safety Education. Along with this they will be able to participate in a Texas Hunter Education Certification program where they can earn their hunter safety card that is required for them to hunt in the state of Texas. The MS Ag program is the first step for a student wanting to pursue a future in the Animal, Horticultural, or Mechanical field, and can lead to a career in one of these fields if the students desire. Here at EISD we try to enable all students to excel in their chosen vocation, and the MS AG program is one of the ways we help the kids see success.
• A Note from Mrs. Johnson — The MS art department has completed their first project of the year, which introduced them to the elements and principles of design. Each student drew the eye, ear, and a tooth then colored and labeled it. Also, they have been learning about grooming products and how to choose the best one for them.
• Cross Country — On Sept. 8, 12 7th and 8th grade girls and boys ran in a cross country meet in Corsicana. It was their first cross country meet and the athletics did a great job.
