Sometimes in life we forget to take time to see the everyday miracles in our faith, friends and family.
For one local family, the last few months have been a testament to their faith.

Today, about half of the children in the United States live in a household where a divorce has occurred. This is not the end of the world; you and I can think of worse things happening, but divorce adds another layer of challenges to the lives of the children.

I think I may be getting through to my kids. I have a favorite new phrase that I say to them all the time: "You tell me that wasn’t designed." You see, to me, one of the strongest arguments for God’s existence is the argument by design. The argument states that since the universe and all that is in it was obviously designed by an intelligent being, there must be a designer; and that designer is God.

I did not want to write about The Da Vinci Code. I didn’t want to because I fear the more publicity it gets, the more people will read the book or go see the movie.

Let’s face it, moms are amazing. I’m glad we take this day to honor and remember them. I mean, come on, we wouldn’t even have life without them. Then, once we were born, the fun was just beginning. When you think of your mom you think of sacrifice.

It was one of those unexpected moments in parenting when you are able to break through and possibly make a lasting difference in the life of one of your children. It seems moments like these just happen — they are never planned or expected, but occur when circumstances suddenly align.

Parenting is a tightrope. We don’t want to come across as dictators, because that usually backfires, but we cannot be our children’s best friends either, because they desperately need us to be their parents.

Are your children growing straight and strong, or crooked and bent? Do they bow to the winds of the popular culture, or are you instilling values in them that will enable them to stand strong and proud?

Today is Easter Sunday; the day we Christians celebrate the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. But did he really rise again? If he didn't, then he was a liar — or a madman. If he didn't rise again, then our faith is useless and there is no life after death. The whole Bible is a lie, in fact, if Jesus didn't rise again.
