Quick qualified for sheriff

The Palestine Herald

With local elections approaching, I give thought to the question of whom I will vote for as Anderson County sheriff? Important to many folk in this county is experience. Naturally, the sheriff’s experience is a considerable factor. But what’s more important to me is what we have experienced of the current sheriff’s performance.

The current sheriff has spent a lot of our hard earned money with nothing proportionate in the way of crime reduction to show for it. When it comes to spending our hard earned dollars in an already tight economy, we want to see improvement. I’ve seen none. In fact, crime seems worse.

Once again, I consider experience. Steve Quick who is running for sheriff, has lived in our county all his life. His family has lived here for over a century, there are deep roots here. Steve has a genuine love for the people of this county and it is that love alone which serves as his drive for seeking election. He believes that the sheriff should serve the county not the county serve the sheriff.

Working a decade and a half for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and a jail administrator for Anderson County for two years, coupled with a deep knowledge of the people, the workings and the needs of our county, Steve possesses all the crucial criteria for serving as the best sheriff of Anderson County.

Those who know Steve know he is honest, smart, hardworking and very caring. Serving as jail administrator has equipped Steve with a wealth of knowledge regarding the responsibilities of a sheriff.

Steve considers new plans, testing them against that which may already work, but begs for improvement. His warm manner draws cooperation. His reputation secures trust. His care for and respect of others welcomes their ideas and feedback.

This is not a time to be paying more for less. Steve knows how to translate our hard earned money into a safer county. This is a large Texas county and Steve’s character and skills are up to the task of ensuring that all the cities, towns and communities of Anderson County receive the protection of the law needed for a peaceful living.

The current sheriff has allowed the satellite offices to fall into decay, rather than having deputies stationed close by in time of emergency, this leaves your safety to chance. Deputies now must drive around the county and their whereabouts are essentially left to chance when you need help. Not only is expensive gas we pay for being wasted, the deputies may be far from your location during a desperate life threatening situation when you or your loved ones are in danger. Steve Quick wants to remedy such serious problems. That’s something I will be considering at election time. Take the time to go vote and let’s make a change and elect Steve Quick as our next sheriff.
