Letters to the Editor for April 29

(Continued)

PEDC recently contracted with Angelou Economics out of Austin to conduct a survey and study of the strengths and weaknesses of Palestine when it comes to competing for jobs and industry. One of the main points that came out of this study is that the Palestine education system must be upgraded for Palestine to become competitive for higher paying jobs and industry. Quality school facilities are an important part of that upgrade to our education system.

We recognize that the tax rate will be impacted, but we also know that the long term economic benefits are much greater. With the new UT campus addition and the PISD bond construction Palestine’s economic future will be on the right track for a brighter future.
