Nine members of Xi Alpha Gamma Lambda attended the annual Founder’s Day meeting on April 29 at Pine Lodge, Elkhart Lake. Thirty members from four chapters were present. Joyce Benfield of Alpha Phi Kappa led in the Opening Ritual and Beta Sigma Phi Grace.

After dinner, April Johnston of Alpha Phi Kappa, welcomed everyone and introduced Erick Kline, and his mother, Karen from Neches. Julie Murray of Delta Alpha Masters recognized Erick as the Beta Sigma Phi Scholarship Recipient. Erick will be attending Texas State Technical College in Marshall, studying small gasoline and diesel engine repair. Congratulations to Erick Kline of Neches!

The Founders’ Day Pledge was led by Linda Langham of Alpha Phi Kappa and the message from International was read by Sue Garrett, also of Alpha Phi Kappa.

Members formed a semi-circle around the outgoing and incoming officers of the Beta Sigma Phi council for 2009-2010. Each outgoing officer presented the new officer with the necessary papers for their office as Pat Bleick of Xi Alpha Gamma Lambda installed each one.

April Johnston began the program by giving a preview of the activities of Alpha Phi Kappa. Sue Garrett was named their Woman of the Year. Sue then introduced the incoming officers for their chapter.

Pat Stephenson of Texas Ix Nu Beta gave an overview of their activities last year, and was chosen as their Woman of the Year. Incoming officers were introduced. Pat Bleick previewed XAGL activities for the year and handed out charms to members. She was chosen as their Woman of the Year, and introduced incoming officers for that chapter. Brenda Mace of Delta Alpha Masters introduced their officers. Dorothy Oldham gave a report on their chapter’s service project-feeding a needy family for the past year. Their project will continue into the new year.

Candy Wells and April Johnston, 2010 Area Convention co-chairmen, explained the idea behind “Parasols in Palestine” and the steps being taken to host a fun time for all attending.

They showed the Victorian centerpieces and “tussie mussies made by Carolyn Riley and Dana Bethurum. All chapters are urged to get involved in this special event.

Candy Wells presented the Council Awards: Alpha Phi Kappa-Best Social; Xi Alpha Gamma Lambda-Best Program; Best Ways and Means, Best Service, Best Rush. Xi Alpha Gamma Lambda was presented the Chapter of the Year Award. Joyce Benfield is the Beta Sigma Phi City Council Woman of the Year. Congratulations to everyone!
