Crabb Revival

concert Saturday



The Nashville based Gospel group Crabb Revival will present a free concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Palestine. The church is located at 5700 N. Loop 256 (next to the YMCA). Doors will open at 6 p.m.

The concert is being presented by Freedom Tabernacle Church of Palestine, home church of Zach Smith, lead guitarist and a vocalist of the group.







Frizzell to come

to Long Lake



At 7 p.m. Wednesday, Homer Bentley is sponsoring Allen Frizzell, younger brother to Lefty and David Frizzell, to come to Long Lake Baptist Church. Frizzell is a talented musician and an outstanding songwriter who is celebrating success in the Christian country music field, a news release said.

“He has had several awards and the Lord keeps opening doors for him. The church feels honored to have him,” a news release said.

Services at Long Lake Baptist Church begin with Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. followed by worship at 10:50 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Wednesday at 6 p.m. for prayer and Bible study.

The Rev. Max Martin is the church pastor and Carl and Barbara Dorsey are youth directors.

Tabernacle Baptist

VBS successful



Vacation Bible School at Tabernacle Baptist Church Elkhart/Redtown was a success. Thank you to all the workers and to Susan Thompson, the director, for putting it all together with such organization, a news release said.

Heavenly Hen ladies have put their meetings on hold for the summer.

If you are interested in Bible Drill class that will begin on the first and third Sunday in August at 4 p.m. see Shasta Stagner for signups.

A nominating committee will meet at 4 p.m. June 28.

Bethlehem Lutheran

services scheduled



Bethlehem Lutheran Church, located across from Palestine High School at 1515 S. Loop 256, this week celebrates the Third Sunday After Pentecost, beginning with summer Sunday school and adult Bible class at 9 a.m.

In the 10:15 a.m. service of Holy Communion, the Rev. David R. Bergman’s sermon will be “The Word of Peace That Stills the Storms of Life,” based on Mark 4.

The congregation will also take note of Father’s Day, giving thanks for the blessing of Christian fathers who by example raise their children “in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:4.)

Bethlehem congregation will be hosting Vacation Bible School the week of July 6-10 for children ages Pre-Kindergarten through those who have completed fifth grade.

Broyles Chapel

Broyles Chapel Baptist Church meets at 9:45 a.m. on Sundays for Bible study classes for all ages followed by morning worship at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday prayer and Bible study begins at 6:30 p.m. Note the new time for the summer months. A new Bible study class will begin this Sunday led by Earline Reagan. The study will be Bible Basics. This will be about a six-week course. See Earline for more information.

The visitation program on Wednesdays will begin soon. The Prayer Drive Program will be held at 6:30 p.m. in place of the church’s Wednesday prayer and Bible study. The object of this Prayer Drive is to pray for all families within a mile radius of the church. This will be done three times before an actual visit will be made to the homes. Joe Blaha and the Rev. Willie Reagan have details on where you can help. Darla Blaha will be leading the prayer warriors at the church as the car-drivers begin to make the drive into the neighborhoods and begin to pray for the families.

Adult choir practice is held at 7:30 p.m. on Sundays, immediately following the worship service.

This weekend, June 19-20 is the church’s weekend for the Hospitality House.

Children’s camp will be June 21-27.

A church nursery is provided for all services.

The 11 a.m. experience begins with the familiar call to worship followed by hymns of praise and delivery of the spoken word. The Rev. Theresa Hamilton and the Licentiate, Bobby Carwell, will officiate the celebration.

Movie Night will be at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Emanuel Baptist Church. The movie will be “Apostles of Comedy,” funny, clean and wholesome Christian comedians. Popcorn and nachos will be served. Bring your blankets or lawn chairs. The movie will be shown outdoors if weather permits.

Lone Pine

events planned



Lone Pine Baptist Church is going, going this summer. All regular programs will continue throughout the summer months along with many special events. The GA's of Lone Pine are preparing to leave for GA camp Monday. They will be working on mission projects and learning more about God and spreading the gospel. The youth are preparing to go to the Youth Evangelism Conference in Dallas June 25-27.

The church will continue throughout the summer to have volleyball after evening services on Sunday and basketball after classes on Wednesdays.

Palestine District Church of God in Christ’s Youth Conference has been moved to Grace Temple COGIC instead of McDonald COGIC.

Concert Saturday

at First Baptist



Crabb Revival will present a free concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Palestine.

Today, Faithbooking will meet at 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. This is a scrapbooking ministry, bring your photos and come scrapbooking.

On Sunday, Bible Studies for all ages begins at 9:30 a.m. and a new college class will start. The Morning Worship Gathering begins at 10:45 a.m. The Rev. Jay Abernathy will begin a new sermon series on the Life Values, with the first sermon “Life- Generate” regarding the struggle for Life and Family Values. Sunday evening will be the Evening Gathering at 6 p.m. and immediately following will be the Pie Auction Fundraiser for the Rio Grande mission trip.

Local ministries include the Basics of Life Storehouse and the monthly Angel Food Ministries distribution. Globally, the church is on mission in the West Bank of Israel and Ethiopia. Angel Food Distribution will be held from 7 to 10 a.m. June 27.

On Monday, the youth will begin “Cultivate Palestine,” a city mission for the summer.

Tuesday, WMU Bible Study will be held at 10 a.m. and Senior Game Time at 1p.m. Wednesday activities include Handbells at 4 p.m., Prayer Time at 5:30 p.m., Bible Studies for all ages at 6 p.m. and Choir Rehearsal at 7 p.m. Children from 3 years through 6th grades will have Wild and Wacky Wednesdays each Wednesday through the summer.

VBS to start



West Union Baptist Church will hold Vacation Bible School June 24-26 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Car wash at Tennessee

Colony Church



Saturday will be a busy day in the life of Tennessee Colony Church. A car wash will be held Saturday. In addition, decorations for Vacation Bible School will begin to go up in the sanctuary and everyone is invited to come and assist.

VBS begins Sunday June 28 at 5:15 p.m. with a meal every evening for workers, students and helpers. “STUDIO GO” is the theme and servant hood is the focus. A canned food drive will be held in conjunction with VBS and every person is encouraged to bring canned food items to VBS nightly.

The pastor, the Rev. John Wisener, will be back in the pulpit on Sunday for Father’s Day and a special treat is in store for those who are in services Sunday morning.

118th anniversary

at Walston Springs



Walston Springs Baptist Church will celebrate its 118th anniversary with an “Ole Fashion” homecoming to be held on June 28. Everyone has an opportunity to dress in clothing of yesteryear if desired. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Father’s Day

This weekend at Cornerstone Worship Center will be a special one for fathers. Rick and Penny Riddle will minister in the morning service. Every father will leave with a gift.

New small group

at Southside Baptist

The Child Care Center is having a T-shirt fund-raiser from June 15-26 to raise money for new wood chips for the playground. Christian T-shirts, hats and jewelry will be sold. Brochures are available in the child care center office.

Men’s Fish Fry

at FBC Neches



NECHES — A special Men’s Fish Fry has been set for 5 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Neches, located at 200 Anderson St. in Neches. Special music will be presented by the Neches Minstrels and a message by Jerry Carroll, former pastor of Sunset Baptist Church in Jacksonville. All men and boys are invited to come. There is no charge for the meal.

The Rev. Nathan McBride, church pastor, will bring his Sunday morning sermon on “The Gravity of a Father’s Words” found in Proverbs 4:1-23.

There will be an ordination service for deacon-elect Jim Batchelor beginning at 3 p.m. June 28 at the church. On June 28, following the Sunday morning service a youth ministry bake sale fund-raiser will be held. The proceeds will help youth go to camp.

Purity Study will be coming on June 24 for grades third through sixth. This will be a Wednesday evening study group. The boys-“The Squire and the Scroll” will be taught by Jerry Watters and the girls-“The Princess and The Kiss” will be taught by Jane Ward.

The pastor’s Sunday school class begins at 9:30 a.m. in the sanctuary.

Coffee with the pastor is held at 10 a.m. on Mondays.

The Rev. McBride can be heard on Sunny 106.5 on Sundays from 7:55-8 a.m.

There will be no church Sunday evening.

On June 28 beginning at 4:30 p.m. a reflection of Vacation Bible School will be held. All teachers and workers are encouraged to attend.



Grace Bible

Grace Bible Church’s Sunday services begin at 11 a.m. and are held at 1020 W. Hamlett Street (old Washington school). The informal service includes contemporary music and practical, expository teaching. A nursery is provided for infants and toddlers through 4 years of age.

Chris Legg of Tyler will be the guest speaker this Sunday. The usual fellowship lunch will not be held this week.

Children’s Summer Sunday School meets at 10 a.m. Elizabeth Moore leads children ages 2 years through 6th grade as they study the names of God.

The Adult Apologetics class meets at 10 a.m. in Focus Room 1. Danny Dean is the facilitator.

The youth guys continue to meet on Sunday evenings, 6 to 8 p.m. at the church. obert Moore, Minister to Youth, leads this Bible study.

Parenting 101’s next session will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the church. The emphasis will be on the middle years, ages 8-12. Please contact Robert or Elizabeth Moore if you are interested. Childcare is provided.

Bright Lights (a Bible study for 10-13 year old girls) will meet weekly during the months of June and August from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the church. See Elizabeth Moore for the summer schedule. Salmon MBC

VBS to start



Vacation Bible School at Salmon Missionary Baptist Church will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The church is located between Elkhart and Grapeland on U.S. 287/19.

The theme for this year’s VBS is “Passport to the Promised Land.” Follow the steps of Jesus from His birth to His sacrifice. There will be music, Bible lessons, games and snacks each evening.

A deacon ordination service for Don McCann was held at the church on May 23. Several sister churches were represented to assist in this service. Many friends and family were in attendance.

A.J. Henderson of Memory Lane MBC delivered a challenging message to the church.

M.T. Blackmon of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church questioned the candidate to verify what Salmon Missionary Baptist Church already knew concerning the doctrinal and moral qualifications of the chosen deacon. Don and his wife, Thelma; have been personal acquaintances of this pastor and his wife for a long time. They have been active in the American Baptist Fellowship for an equally long time.
