Mullens-Sewell wedding

Tara Mullens and Rhett Sewell, both of Tyler, were married May 24 at the East Texas Arboretum in Athens. The service was conducted by Jimmy Mullens of Ft. Worth beneath a vine covered arbor as guests watched from beneath the shade of a large Oak tree.

The parents of the bride are Eddie and Carla Mullens of Montalba, and the parents of the groom are Mark Sewell of Midland and Josie Sewell of Tyler.

The bride was escorted by her father to the tune of “Liz on Top of the World” from “Pride and Prejudice.” She wore a soft white strapless, floor-length gown accented by rhinestones at the waist with a taupe ribbon bow. A spring bouquet of white mums, coral spray roses, freesia, green button mums and willow was carried by the bride. Attendants for the bride included Matron of Honor Tia Trent of Tyler, Landon Trent of Tyler and Zoey Sewell of Stillwater.

Attendants for the groom included Best Man Seth Sewell of Tyler, Chris Shultz of Coffee City and Philip Brooks of West Monroe, Louisiana. London Brooks carried a sign announcing the entrance of the bride.

Grandparents in attendance for the groom were Louie and Janie Sewell and Anita Redford. Family and friends enjoyed the setting of the arboretum, chipotle buffet and conversation as they celebrated the joining of these two families.

Father and daughter danced to “I Loved her First” by Heartland. The bride and groom danced to “Love You for a Thousand Years” by Christina Perri. The couple spent their honeymoon on the islands of Oahu and Kona.
