On July 10, 1954, Roy Clinton Benge and Wanda Marie Crosby were married. He was serving in the U.S. Army when they met. They lived in Lufkin for many years and their four children were all born there. In 1973, they moved to Palestine. Roy retired as a mechanic from Palestine Public School District. Wanda retired from J.C. Penny Company, where she worked in the office for over 20 years. They have been members of Concord Baptist Church for 40 years. Wanda is a member of the Yaupon Garden club, where she has won numerous ribbons for her flowers. Roy is an honorary member for his assistance to the club. They have four children, seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren: sons, Greg and wife Tammy of Palestine, Eric and wife Arlene of Rogers, Arkansas; daughters, Anita Kelley and husband Bill of Palestine, Roilene Cole and husband David of Palestine; grandsons, Matt and wife Tiffany of Corpus Christi, Clint and wife Courtney of Gainesville, Alex and wife Ximena of Tyler, and Lance and wife Jessica of Palestine; and granddaughters, Erica and husband Jeff of Arkansas and Jessica and husband Justin of Palestine.
