Prater-Clendening wedding

— Cheryl Lee Prater and Russell David Clendening were married at 2 p.m. Feb. 15 by their pastor, the Rev. Marcus Davis, at Victory Christian Center in Porter.

The bride is the daughter of Shannon and Virgil Clark of Porter and Allan and Lorinda Prater of Palestine. The groom is the son of Floyd and Dorthy Watson of Porter. The bride's grandparents are Arleen and Van Cooper and Violet Prater and the late Oliver Prater of Palestine.

Given in marriage by her mother and escorted by her father, the bride wore a white silk strapless gown, embellished with crystals and pearls at the sweetheart neckline and waist of a ruched corset bodice and was complimented by a fingertip veil anchored by a tiara. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of red and white roses and baby’s breath.

The bride was attended by matron of honor Robin Couch of Livingston, maid of honor Kenna Andrews, sister of the bride, of Porter and bridesmaid Miranda Whittington, cousin of the bride, of Houston.

Flower girls were daughters of the groom, Samantha and Christy Clendening of Porter. They dressed in red and carried white baskets with red rose petals. The bride’s attendants wore red afternoon dresses and carried a bouquet of red and white roses.

Oscar Tray Couch of Livingston served as best man. Steven Prater, brother of the bride, of Palestine, served as groomsman.

Ring bearers were Master Joshua, son of the groom and Master Logan Andrews, nephew of the bride.

The bride’s parents hosted an afternoon tea at Garden Oaks Community Center. The groom hosted the rehearsal dinner on Feb. 8 at Holfbrau Steakhouse.

The bride attended elementary schools in Palestine. Both the bride and groom graduated from New Caney High School. Following a honeymoon to Orlando, Fla., the couple will reside in New Caney.
