Sarah Marie Hughes and Dr. Christopher Grant Staples were married Jan. 21 at Lakeway Resort and Spa of Austin. The ceremony was officiated by Mike Rinehart.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Hughes of Waco and Mr. and Mrs. Tony Garcia of Waco. The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Hughes of Axtell; the late Mrs. Doris Richardson of Colorado Springs, Colo., formally of Waco; and Ervin Symm and the late Mrs. Irene Symm of Temple.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil A. Staples of Palestine and the grandson of Mrs. Carol Staples and the late Mr. Cecil Staples of Palestine and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. Cook Jr. of Palestine.
Serving as matron of honor was Mallory Green. Bridesmaids were Abby Fishero, Ashley Johnson, Bianca Mulloy, Eva Sirman, Sandi Davis and Sarah Holland. Junior bridesmaids were Parker Smith and Cadie Hughes.
Best men were Scott Staples and Jordan Staples, brothers of the groom. Groomsmen were Chance Nichols, Langdon Elliott, Matt Levin, Brian Fishero, Chad Thorton, Cody Kirkland, Levi Kirkland, Wes Hughes and Sol Azouz.
Ushers for the ceremony were Benjamin Mulloy, Brian Mazzarella, Zac Smith and Cole Hughes.
A dinner and dance reception followed the ceremony with music by Blind Date Austin. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Steiner Ranch Steakhouse.
After a honeymoon to St. Lucia, the couple now reside in Temple.
The bride is a 2002 graduate of Robinson High School and a 2006 graduate of Baylor University where she received a B.B.A. in Finance. Currently, she is the Compensation Manager at McLane Company in Temple.
The groom is a 2001 graduate of Palestine High School, a 2005 graduate of Baylor University where he received a B.S. in Biology and Economics, and a 2010 graduate of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where he received a Doctorate of Medicine. He is employed as a Dermatology Resident at Scott and White Hospital in Temple.
