Onlookers begin to file away as a 37-million cubic foot scientific balloon slowly collapsed on the launchpad Wednesday night at the NASA Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility. The balloon, which is roughly the size of the Houston Astrodome when fully inflated, failed as its launch was beginning during a test flight from the Palestine facility.
