A 34-year-old Palestine woman remained in the Anderson County Jail Tuesday after having been arrested one day earlier for allegedly possessing a small amount of methamphetamine.
Lisa Michelle McClure, 34, of Palestine was arrested shortly after 6:35 p.m. Monday by Anderson County sheriff’s personnel during a routine traffic stop and charged with possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram, according to Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor.
“She (McClure) was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped,” Taylor said. “Deputy (Ronnie) Howell initiated a traffic stop on a blue 1986 GMC pickup on FM 1990 (south of the Palestine city limits) for defective equipment.”
The sheriff said the male driver was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.
“The passenger (McClure) was acting nervous,” Taylor stated. “Cpl. (Patti) Reid arrived on the scene of the traffic stop and, after getting permission, she frisked Ms. McClure for contraband. While she was patting her down, she (McClure) tried to reach up by her bra area to prevent her from doing the search. They found a clear, pink plastic baggy (in her bra) which contained a crystal-like substance which field tested positive for methamphetamine.
“Also in her purse was a glass pipe commonly used to smoke methamphetamine,” the sheriff continued.
The pipe contained residue which also field tested positive for methamphetamine, according to Taylor.
As of mid-day Tuesday, McClure remained in the jail in lieu of a $4,500 bond set by Anderson County Justice of the Peace James Todd.
