Easter egg hunt Sunday
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3907 and the Ladies Auxiliary will hold the annual Easter Egg Hunt from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the post home on 3800 W. Oak St.
Age groups will be 0-1, 2-4, 5-6, and 7-9.
“Please join us for a good time for children and their parents,” A VFW news release said.
Grapeland Jamboree event postponed
The Third Friday Night Jamboree at the Grapeland Senior Citizens Center scheduled for Friday has been canceled due to the Good Friday holiday.
The Jamboree will return in April.
Relay for Life team captains to meet
Relay for Life will hold a team captains meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at Palestine Regional Medical Center’s cafeteria.
Those considering forming a team are invited to attend the meeting.
Relay for Life benefits the American Cancer Society.
Elkhart Lions barbecue slated
The Elkhart Lions Club Barbecue has been moved to March 29, starting at 10 a.m. until sold out.
Make arrangements to come and bring your used eye glasses and aluminum cans.
Holy Week set at Elkhart FUMC
The Elkhart First United Methodist Church will be offering the following events during Holy Week.
The community is invited to participate in the 7 p.m. Maundy Thursday service in an evening remembering the Last Supper Jesus had with his disciples before he was crucified. Communion will be served in the manner it was done in His day.
At 2 p.m. Saturday, the fellowship committee will once again invite the community children through the 5th grade to participate in learning bible stories and an Easter Egg Hunt. Parents remember to bring your child's Easter basket for this fun activity in the church's park area.
On Easter Sunday, the celebration will start with a sunrise service at the old Pilgrim Church lawn. Worship will start around 7:15 am. You are encouraged to bring something to sit on. In case of rain, the service will be moved inside the church. Refreshments will be served by the Genesis Bible Class immediately following.
Easter Sunday service at the First United Methodist Church will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday school for all ages is at 10 a.m. All attending will be able to participate in the flowering of the cross. lease bring fresh flowers with stems long enough to go through the wire on the cross for your family and also for any visitors.
Sacred Heart to hold Holy Thursday service
Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 503 N. Queen St., will hold its Holy Thursday service at 7 p.m. featuring Mass of the Lord’s Supper followed by Eucharistic Adoration until midnight.
On Good Friday, Stations of the Cross will be held at 3 p.m. At 7 p.m., Veneration of the Cross and Passion Readings Collection gathered for Holy Land.
On Holy Saturday, an Easter Vigil Mass will be held at 8 p.m.
Mass on Easter Sunday will be at 8 a.m. with an Easter egg hunt after the 10:30 a.m. Mass for ages 5 to 9.
Relay for Life bake sale set
The Relay for Life Cooking for a Cure team will hold a bake sale starting at 9 a.m. Thursday at Wal-Mart.
All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.
