Palestine police arrested a 46-year-old Palestine man for prescription fraud Wednesday afternoon for allegedly attempting to illegally obtain pain killers.
According to Sgt. Larry Boyer, officers Howard Cares and Matthew Kerr responded to a call around 2:30 p.m. from the Walgreen’s pharmacy manager at 2201 S. Loop 256, alleging that a customer, Gregory Evert Taylor, was attempting to fill a fraudulent prescription.
Taylor, 46, a martial arts instructor who is not related to Anderson County Sheriff Greg L. Taylor, allegedly attempted to obtain Vicodin from the pharmacy, Boyer said.
“The manager had called,” he said. “For some reason, he knew it (the prescription) was fraudulent and he called the doctor’s office. He went ahead and filled the prescription.
“Once it was filled, officers stopped the guy and placed him under arrest for fraudulent prescription of a controlled substance.”
Taylor was booked into the Anderson County Jail Wednesday afternoon and was released on $5,000 bond Thursday afternoon.
