Performers named for music award show

Texas music stars are heading to Palestine.
The list of performers for the 2008 Texas Music Awards, which will be held on May 3 at the Palestine Civic Center. has been named.
Legendary songwriter and performer Gary P. Nunn will perform and host the show. Fourteen other performances will take place as well.
Scheduled to perform: Shake Russell Band (Shake Russell, Doug Floyd, Michael Roberts) with Danny Everitt and Mandy Mercier; The Randy Brown Band; Richard Dobson; The Hanshaws with Willie B; Kim Townsend and Patti Sullivan; Texas Renegade and Jimmy Kaiser; Carissa Amberly; ShAnnie; Tim Fralik with Robert Frith, Big John Mills, Brian Kalinec and Troy Allan; Mark Zeus with Big John Mills; The Kevin Deal Band; Elliott Fikes and Soul Serenade; USA Network’s Nashville Star Reunion with Robert Frith and Kacey Musgraves; Trop Rock Feature with The Bad Monkeys, Troy Allan, and Kelly McGuire and a special performance by Gary P. Nunn.
The following bands will perform at the after party immediately following the show: Ryan T. Briggs and the Redneck Hippies; Dust Devils; Texas Renegade; David Lee Kaiser and Joint Chiefs; and Randy Brown Band.
The after party will be held on the civic center grounds.
Also scheduled to appear are 2007 Male Vocalist of the Year, John Evans, and sixth season contestant from FOX Television's American Idol, Haley Scarnato. FOX Television is expected to be at the event filming for a future American Idol episode, according to a Texas Music Awards news release.
The awards show, presented this year by Northeast Texas-based MyTexasMusic.com, the retail partner of the show’s production company, Payline Productions, presents awards to independent Texas performers in several categories.
Tickets are on sale now the Texas Music Awards to be held at the Palestine Civic Center on May 3. Tickets will be available online at www.texasmusicawards.org or they can be purchased during business hours at the Visitors Center at 825 Spring St. in Palestine.
A show of this size takes many volunteers. An all-call for local volunteers will be held at 5:30 p.m. April 10 at the Museum for East Texas Culture, 400 Micheaux Ave. in Palestine. Anyone interested should attend the meeting. Volunteers will be needed May 2-3. Volunteers will even be needed in the overnight hours as the TMAs will be working around the clock to set up the show.
Sponsorships are still available for the awards show and range from $250 to $25,000. Each level of sponsorship comes with a pre-determined number of tickets and access to the VIP area, so this is a sure way to get good seats.
