TMA show volunteer meeting set

PALESTINE — Anyone wishing to help out during the upcoming Texas Music Awards is asked to meet at 5:30 p.m. today at the Museum for East Texas Culture.

Volunteers are needed from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on May 2 to decorate the Palestine Civic Center and later in the day from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. to assist and serve in the VIP area during the volunteer meal and sound check. Volunteers also will be needed on May 3, the day of the awards show.

Volunteers may be high school ages and up, according to tourism director Susan Cottle-Leonard.

“This is a great way to be involved in an exciting event that benefits your community,” Leonard said.

A second volunteer meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on April 28 at the Civic Center.

The Texas Music Awards honors Texas musicians who excel in a wide variety of musical styles, including country and western, pop, rock and jazz.
