A Tuesday afternoon fire possibly started by an electrical spark destroyed a residence in the Tennessee Colony area.
Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor said the blaze at 8710 FM 860 in Tennessee Colony was reported to authorities at 4:21 p.m. Tuesday.
No one was injured, according to Taylor, who said the Bradford, Montalba and Tennessee Colony volunteer fire departments responded to the blaze.
The owners of the residence live out of town, the sheriff stated.
“When Corporal (Patti) Reid arrived, she could see smoke coming through the roof near the center of the house,” Taylor said. “There were volunteer firemen on the roof trying to put the fire out.”
The fire possibly started due to an electrical spark, according to the sheriff.
“They were having some roof work being done on the house,” Taylor said. “They (the workers) reported lifting up a vent on top of the house and saw a spark. A short time later, the smoke started bellowing out of the roof.”
The sheriff said he was uncertain about the home’s value and whether it was insured.
Taylor described the residence as “a total loss.”
