Strong family in Palestine Tuesday

By CHERIL VERNON
The Palestine Herald

PALESTINE Personally, I feel touched by the story of 20-month-old Gwendolyn Strong and of her parents’ amazing courage and strength to campaign for awareness to end Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).

The Strongs will be in Palestine on Tuesday and possibly part of Wednesday before leaving to continue their “Sponsor-A-Mile to End SMA” 5,000-mile drive.

Please keep updated about when they arrive in Palestine and where you may meet them on the Herald-Press Blog.

I also will upload links and videos to several other media stories about the Strongs, many of which focus on the quest for Gwendolyn to meet her 104-year-old great-grandfather Harry Gillespie, a former longtime resident of Palestine.

It would be interesting to know those who may have known Harry Gillespie or have some kind of momento from Palestine that the family could take to him on their trip to see him in Mississippi, where he now resides.

If you can think of anything that the Strongs might enjoy, please contact me at community@palestineherald.com or contact the Strongs directly via email at vstrong@gmail.com
