Fire destroys mobile home near Tennessee Colony

TENNESSEE COLONY A fire which was possibly electrical in origin destroyed a mobile home in Tennessee Colony Tuesday morning, according to authorities.

Troy Black, chief deputy for the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, said the blaze at No. 8 Cottonwood Lane was reported by a neighbor at 6:20 a.m. Tuesday.

The homeowner had already left for work at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s Powledge Unit and was not present at the time the fire was reported, according to the chief deputy.

“It appears that the fire started in the kitchen area of the residence,” Black said. “At this time, the fire is of unknown origin, but it is suspected it may have been electrical. We’ll have investigators go out and investigate.”

The 16 foot-by-80 foot mobile home valued at “roughly $20,000” was insured, according to Black.

“The house was deemed a total loss,” Black said. “Some of the contents will be salvageable, but there will be heavy smoke damage.”

The Westside, Tennessee Colony and Tucker volunteer fire departments responded to the blaze, according to the chief deputy.
