Houston County pair indicted for burglary

By PAUL STONE
The Palestine Herald

PALESTINE Two Houston County residents who allegedly burglarized a pair of residences in southern Anderson County last month have been indicted by an Anderson County grand jury.

Allen William Lunt, 44, and Brenda Lynn Marroquin, 46, both of Crockett, were indicted earlier this month on two separate charges of burglary of a habitation, according to records provided by the Anderson County district clerk’s office.

The burglaries alleged occurred on Aug. 10 and Aug. 12 at residences on CR 170 and Texas 19 in southern Anderson County, authorities have said.

Lunt and Marroquin were arrested around 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 13 at a Palestine motorcycle shop after they attempted to sell a pair of Harley-Davidson exhaust pipes, according to sheriff’s authorities.

Anderson County sheriff’s Sgt. Larry Warrick and deputy Ronnie Howell responded to the shop after authorities were contacted and “detained the subjects (Lunt and Marroquin), questioned them and discovered the pipes were taken from a burglary (at a residence on CR 170 in southern Anderson County),” according to Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor.

Clothes and boots worn by Marroquin at the time of her arrest are also believed to have been taken in the same burglary, according to the sheriff.

During a subsequent search of the 1996 Saturn in the parking lot operated by the couple, authorities say they recovered clothes, women’s bath items and a leather jacket.

The jacket was believed to have been taken during a burglary occurring on Texas 19 South in Elkhart, according to Taylor.

Initially, authorities said they had recovered a total of “approximately $1,000” in stolen merchandise.
