Christmas Eve services held at area churches

PALESTINE — During the holiday season, many families make attendance of a Christmas Eve church service an important part of their annual celebrations.

Traditionally, services include the lighting of candles, singing carols and scripture readings as well as dramatic presentations and more — all presented as a way to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

The following area churches will hold services tonight:

• First Presbyterian Church, 410 Avenue A, Palestine

• First United Methodist Church-Palestine, 422 S. Magnolia St., Palestine

• Southside Baptist Church, 1500 Crockett Rd., Palestine

• St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 106 E. Crawford St., Palestine (also at 10 p.m.)

• Swanson Hill Community Church, E. FM 323, Palestine

• Westwood Baptist Church, 1809 Bassett Rd., Palestine
