Jailed man gets second warrant

PALESTINE —

A second warrant for sexual assault of a child has been served on an Anderson County man who was arrested earlier this month for a similar charge.

Joshua Ryan Quick, 24, is currently in the Anderson County Jail on the charge of sexual performance by a child under 14 years of age.

“Anderson County Sheriff's Office investigators were contacted by a victim of a sexual assault, who wanted to report the offense, after she learned of his arrest on Nov. 5 in the newspaper,” ACSO Chief Deputy Troy Black.

The sexual assault of a child allegedly occurred in Anderson County in November 2011. The female victim was 16 years old at the time of the offense.

A warrant was issued by Justice of the Peace Pct. 3 James Todd on Wednesday for sexual assault of a child with a $100,000 bond.

“At this time, investigators believe there are other victims of the same or similar offense and are encouraged to contact the Anderson County Sheriff's Office. Often victims of sexual assault or sexual abuse offenses are reluctant to notify law enforcement because of fear or harassment,” Black said.

Quick's first arrest stemmed from his involvement in the exchange of photos of a pornographic nature with a 12-year-old girl from Iowa.

According to Sheriff Greg Taylor, the investigation of that case began when the ACSO received reports from an Iowa police department about a girl who had come forward with her parents to report she had sent and received pictures from the suspect on the internet and cell phone.

“Through the investigation, headed by ACSO Investigator Ryan Tolliver, we were able to obtain information involving photos being passed between the two,” the sheriff said. “These were very graphic, sexually explicit photos.”

Quick remained jailed on bonds totaling $275,000.
