PALESTINE — The 14th annual Lousiana-Texas Christian R.V. Rally is planned Oct. 24-28 at Salmon Lake Park in Grapeland with the attendees scheduled to participate in coinciding Palestine events including the Hot Pepper Festival and Dogwood Jamboree’s “Autumn Country” show on Oct. 27.

Event coordinator Dan Manuel is expecting about 150 to 200 people to attend the rally.

Theme for the rally is ‘Making the Right Choice” with services planned the nights of Oct. 24-26.

“Lesson topics for ‘Making the Right Choice’ will cover how different choices we make in our lives affect us and others. We will have different speakers Wednesday through Friday night,” Manuel said.

Food and entertainment are planned every night.

“Early birds” who arrive on Oct. 23 can enjoy a seafood dinner. Potluck dinners are planned for Oct. 24-25 with a fish fry set for Oct. 26’s “Patriotic Night.”

“We will have gospel singing throughout the rally and entertainment at night including live music, skits and comedy,” Manuel said. “The general public from Palestine and surrounding areas are invited to come out as well.”

Per popular demand from past years, one day will be designated for games such as spades, checkers, dominos and washers with the “Price is Right” game set for the evening.

“We are encouraging the participants to enjoy Saturday, Oct. 27 in Palestine attending the Hot Pepper Festival and the Dogwood Jamboree’s ‘Autumn Country’ show. There will be a lot of activity going on in Palestine and we think they will really enjoy it,” Manuel said.

The Hot Pepper Festival will be held throughout the day and evening in the downtown and Old Town areas of Palestine featuring a parade, arts and crafts, live music, chili and barbecue cookoff, exhibit show and more.

The Dogwood Jamboree is set to start at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Palestine Civic Center.

RV spots are already reserved for the rally, so RV reservations are not needed. Those wanting to rent a cabin can call Salmon Lake Park at 936-687-2594. This is the sixth year the rally has been held at Salmon Lake Park.

The rally participants will attend Crockett Road Church of Christ worship services on Sunday, Oct. 28 where Manuel serves as the minister. Bible classes that day will include “Choices and Sacrifices That Built a Nation” led by Ray Franks and “Choose You This Day Whom You Will Serve” led by Manuel.
