Two Palestine High School graduating classes — the Class of 1953 and the Class of 1963 — are planning their 50th and 60th reunions, respectively, and looking for classmates.
The PHS Class of 1953 will be celebrating its 60th reunion on Friday, Sept. 27 and Saturday, Sept. 28. The plans include a “Meet and Greet” gathering on Sept. 27 at the Hampton Inn. Saturday’s plans include a breakfast at 9 a.m. followed by tours of the newly renovated high school building, the Texas Theater and other familiar locations of the past. The reunion will be concluded on Saturday evening with dinner and dancing at the Harvey Women’s Club.
Response has been good thus far, however there are several class members that have not been located. Anyone with information on the following students, are asked to call Dorothy Oldham at 903-723-1261. They are: Jo Anne Farrow, Paul Greer, Janice Hazelwood, June Harris, Weldon Hightower, J.V. Kelly, Alvin Light, Joy McKenzie, Laura Beth Nall, Barbara Roy, Billy Valentine and Olive Walston.
The PHS Class of 1963 is planning its 50th class reunion Oct. 25-27 in Palestine.
The reunion organizers would like to encourage those who may know a PHS Class of 1963 classmate to let them know about the reunion, as the organizers do not know how to contact some of the classmates due to married names, etc. Those who went to school with the Class of 1963 but did not necessarily graduate with that class also are invited. The class also is looking for teachers who may have taught school during that time period.
The Class of 1963 reunion organizers are hoping to hear from classmates in the next two weeks, if possible, to work on planning events. For information, e-mail Dickey Seale at email@example.com or Carla LeGard at firstname.lastname@example.org or call LeGard at 903-729-4494.
