Grace UMC to host Valentine's Day dinner fundraiser

Are you looking for a way to celebrate Valentine's Day with your loved one?

Grace United Methodist Church will be holding its annual candlelight Valentine's Day dinner on Friday, Feb. 14 themed “A Night in Italy.” Two seatings will be available — 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The dinner will be held at Grace UMC's new property — the old Meadowbrook Country Club — located at 2130 Country Club Dr.

“We will have candlelight and nice Italian music playing. It's a great opportunity to make Valentine's plans with your loved one,” said Carey Chamberlin, the wife of Grace UMC pastor Phil Chamberlin. “It's going to be a great meal and go toward a great cause. It will be a good opportunity for people to see our new property.”

Grace UMC purchased the old country club property in November.

“We are hoping to move the church there in the beginning of March. It's not completely finished, but the area where we are having the Valentine's dinner is finished,” Chamberlin said. “We are excited about opening it up to the public. We already have a sign out front that says 'future home of Grace United Methodist Church.'”

The youth will be serving the meals and guests have four choices of entrees: Chicken alfredo, veal parmesan, four-cheese lasagna and spaghetti with meatballs. The meal will include garlic bread rolls, salad, dessert, ice tea, water and coffee. Cost is $15 per person.

“They will be served by Grace youth and all of the proceeds will go to the youth department,” Chamberlin said. “The youth will be wearing traditional button-down shirts and ties and aprons. For a lot of them, this will be their first experience waiting tables, but they will be well trained so that everybody can have a good experience.”
