Political forum set Thursday

PALESTINE — The public is invited to hear from candidates running for seats on the Palestine City Council and the Palestine Independent School District Board of Trustees during a political forum on Thursday.

The forum will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ben E. Keith community room, 2019 W. Oak St. in Palestine. Refreshments will be served promptly at 5:30 p.m. followed by questions and comments from those running for office.

“The forum will allow the public an opportunity to meet the candidates and get answers to questions that have been submitted by the general public. We are pleased to offer this opportunity to address the issues,” Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Meghan Hill said.

Individuals running for all contested races in Palestine have been invited or will be in attendance, including:

• Therrell Thomas, candidate for Palestine mayor

• Timothy Triplett, candidate for Palestine mayor

• Sam Aryanapur, candidate for Palestine City Council District 6

• Steve Presley, incumbent for Palestine City Council District 6

• Dana Staples, incumbent for PISD School Board, Place 3

• JoJo Dickerson, candidate for PISD School Board, Place 3

• Rickey Ferguson, incumbent for PISD School Board, Place 4

• Kenneth R. Jordan, candidate for PISD School Board, Place 4

• Janie Sepulveda, incumbent for PISD School Board, Place 5

• Mitchell W. Jordan, candidate for PISD School Board, Place 5

Audience members are asked to submit questions for candidates at 5:30 p.m.

The forum will be broadcast live, starting at 6 p.m., on KNET 95.7 FM and 1450 AM, as well as on the KNET stream via www.YourEastTexas.com for those that cannot be in attendance.

The 2013 Political Forum is sponsored by the Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce, KNET Radio: 1450AM/ FM 95.7, Bishop’s Brisket House, Toni’s Petals and Parties, and David Barnard — State Farm Insurance.

There is no cost for this event and it is open to the public.
