"Freeze Your Buns Fun Run" to kick off Dec. 8 Frost Fest events

PALESTINE — A “Freeze Your Buns Fun Run” is planned to kick off the Frost Fest activities on Saturday, Dec. 8 in Palestine.

The one-mile family fun run/walk will start at 9 a.m. Dec. 8 at  Spring and John streets, near where the Frost Fest’s ice skating rink will be set up.

“A festive walk downtown with jingle bells on your feet is sure to get the whole family into the spirit,” a “Freeze Your Buns Fun Run” news release said.

Those participating are encouraged to wear optional holiday costumes. The $15 price per participant age 13 and over will include a T-shirt and jingle bells for shoes.

Kids ages 12 and under can participate for free with parent or guardian — no shirt and no registration is required.

The paved courses will weave throughout downtown Palestine. A water station and first aid kit will be available.

Registration on day of event starts at 8 a.m. T-shirts and jingle bells will be available for pick up on day of event. Pets are welcome on a leash.

T-shirts are only guaranteed for registrations submitted by Thursday. Awards will be presented to the first male and female to cross the finish line.

Best Costume Winner will be awarded a $25 gift certificate to Applebee's Neighborhood Bar and Grill. This award will be mailed to the winner.

The Freeze Your Buns Fun Run is sponsored by Palestine Regional Medical Center.
