Texas A&M AgriLife Extension’s Houston County Extension Office is sponsoring a special “Dinner Tonight! Healthy Cooking School” event in October.
The school will teach individuals how to prepare easy, nutritious and economical meals for their families.
The day-long event will be held from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 at the Crockett Civic Center.
The school will include workshops on container gardening, herbs and cheese-making, as well as food demonstrations by local county extension agents Mandy Patrick and Holly Black.
Palestine’s own Simon Webster of Sabor a Pasion will serve as special guest chef.
“I will be making a lamb dish during the event — a grilled lamb burger. It’s something different for people to try and it’s healthy as well,” Webster told the Herald-Press. “They don’t put as much growth hormones in lamb, they are grass-fed.”
The lamb meat will be provided by a Palestine area rancher Rob Bass, who raises lamb.
Vendors including Tupperware, Pampered Chef, Paparazzi, Mary Kay, Caney Creek Winery and more also will be available at the event.
Registration for the school is needed by Oct. 15. Cost is $20.
