Bethlehem Lutheran Church's Women's Missionary League will hold its annual bazaar Saturday featuring arts and crafts booths with Christmas gift ideas and knick-knacks, a bake sale and soup and salad lunch. Proceeds will support various mission projects.
“We've been doing this for years. There are people who come every year because they enjoy supporting us and they like to see what we have for sale. It's a good opportunity to have some lunch and take home some baked goods, gifts and help support our mission projects,” WML secretary Donna Hughes told the Herald-Press.
Some of the items to be featured in the bazaar include Christmas wreaths, Christmas tree ornaments, pillows, decorative kitchen towels, baby items, jewelry and more.
“We have about 20 to 25 ladies who are working on this. On Friday, we will all be home baking for the bake sale,” Hughes said. “We will have cakes, pies, brownies, cookies — the usual bake sale items.”
The sandwich and soup lunch will include a choice of potato soup or taco soup. Cost is $7.50 for soup, sandwich, chips, drink and cookies or $5 for just the soup, chips, drink and cookies or $5 for the sandwich, chips, drink and cookies.
Norwood Heights Baptist Church will hold its annual chili dinner on Sunday, starting at noon.
Chili, crackers, onions, jalapenos, dessert, tea and coffee will be sold for $10. Cost will be $6 for children age 12 and under.
A cake auction will start at 12:45 p.m. followed by an auction for various items including a Baldwin Hamilton studio piano, Thomas Kincade “Perseverance” canvas print, AR 15 rifle (new, in box); and a conference table.
All proceeds will go toward the church's debt reduction.
Sunday school will start at 9:30 a.m. with worship service following at 10:30 a.m.
