Thanks to the kindness of the community, toys are rolling in to the Palestine Herald-Press' 13th annual Stocking Stuffers Toy Drive.
“The toy drive is going great. People are really giving,” Stocking Stuffers Toy Drive Coordinator Pequita Casteel said. “We appreciate everyone's generosity.”
Currently, the toy drive is in need of toys for the 9-12 age group for boys and girls.
“Last year we provided toys for more than 400 children in Palestine,” Casteel said. “We want to take care of the children of Anderson County and put a smile on their faces on Christmas morning.”
Each year, the public helps with the toy drive, dropping off unwrapped toys at the newspaper office for boys and girls (infants to age 12).
“Our community always does so good coming together to make our toy drive a success. We couldn't do it without the support of our community,” Casteel said. “No matter how big or small, each toy brought in brings happiness to a child.”
Toys will be accepted through 5 p.m. Wednesday at the newspaper office, located at 519 N. Elm St.
“We hope to have the toys delivered to their families by Dec. 20,” Casteel said.
