The Palestine Police Department's town hall meeting planned for 6 p.m. today at Westwood Elementary School has been canceled and will be rescheduled for a future date.
“We apologize for the inconvenience and hope you can appreciate the action is an effort to provide the highest quality service to the citizens when this meeting is conducted,” said a City of Palestine news release provided to the Herald-Press. “The original purpose of the Police Department Town Hall Meeting was to have an open dialogue on the services and activities in the Westwood neighborhood. A misrepresentation that the Town Hall Meeting is as a continuation of council session discussions will hinder our ability to provide citizens the information and the interaction they deserve.”
Information on the future date will be posted through city communication avenues when determined, the City of Palestine news release said.
