PALESTINE — The East Texas “Give Me the Bible” television program will celebrate its 25th year in telecasting during its annual conference Saturday in Palestine. The weekly program airs on five East Texas and Central Texas television stations as well as nationally and internationally via gospel networks.
“The 'Give Me the Bible' program started in April 1989 and will start its 25th year of production this April,” said Dan Manuel, one of the regular panelists of ministers featured on the show. “Thousands of lives reportedly have been touched by this telecast and a large number have become Christians as a result of the combined efforts of those who support the program.”
The annual conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Crockett Road Church of Christ on Palestine. The theme for the conference is “Let the Gospel Be Seen in 2014.”Speakers at the conference this year will be Dr. Jay Lockhart of Whitehouse and Manuel.
Many East Texas churches of Christ help sponsor the program that appears each Sunday on KETK NBC-56 and on KETK NBC -53 in the Nacogdoches/Lufkin area at 7 a.m. each Sunday. The program also can be seen on KLPN 58 in Longview on Fridays at 6 a.m. For the past four years, the program also is now broadcast nationally and internationally via the Gospel Broadcasting Network.
The “Give Me The Bible” program is telecast out of South Haven, Miss. at 8:30 a.m. each Sunday. Plans are being made to telecast special programming at prime time spots during the coming year.
East Texas churches who currently support the program are Crockett Road Church of Christ in Palestine and other churches of Christ in Alto, Athens, Bullard, Bald Prairie, Cushing, Frankston, Hallsville, Hemphill,Diana, Groveton, Grapeland, Jacksonville, Jefferson, Kilgore, Lufkin, LaPoynor, Lyles St. in Big Sandy, Mt. Enterprise, Mineola, New Summerfield, Overton, Ponta, Quitman, Shady Grove, University Church of Christ in Tyler, West Lake Shores church of Christ in Chandler, Southwest Church of Christ in Tyler. he telecast is under the oversight of the elders of Crockett Road Church of Christ in Palestine.
