Cars of Palestine to annual car show Saturday

PALESTINE — A favorite Dogwood Trails Celebration event, the 27th Annual Cars of Palestine Car Show, will be arriving in downtown Palestine on Saturday to help kick off the annual event.

The show will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Spring Street, in the field behind First Presbyterian Church next to Kroger, within walking distance to the festival.

“We are expecting over 50 Mustangs out of Dallas, and over 20 corvettes out of the Houston area for our car show,” Cars of Palestine President Beth Ward said. “This is such a great, fun, family-friendly event.

“Someone always sees an old car or truck that brings back a great memory to share with others.”

The car show also includes a DJ playing oldies music, the Boy Scouts selling hot dogs, a silent auction and games.

“This is our one fund-raiser of the year for scholarships for Anderson County high school seniors,” Ward said. “We hope you will plan to join us this year for our 27th Car Show and bring the whole family.”

First- and second-places will be given in 20 categories ranging from classic and restored cars and trucks, muscle cars, street rods and more.

A Best of Show and the Jay Norris Excellence Award also will be presented.

Special trophies include Mayor’s Choice, Chief of Police Choice, Sheriff’s Choice and the Fire Chief’s Choice.
