Haunted corn maze open in Maydelle

PALESTINE — The Texas State Railroad is bringing a scare to the train riders this week, hosting a Haunted Corn Maze from 7 p.m. to midnight today through Sunday (Halloween night) at the Maydelle Depot.

“We have planned a very scary haunted maze that can be compared to top haunted houses,” TSR Marketing Manager Lori Pennington said. “Being outside in the dark, trying to find your way through the maze, in addition to the frights that are throughout, creates a very scary atmosphere.”

Ticket holders board the train at the Maydelle Depot, located about 20 miles east of Palestine on U.S. 84., and travel to the railroad’s 6-acre corn maze. Trains depart for the maze from 7 to 11 p.m.

Concession stands with hotdogs, frito pies, and other snacks and drinks will be open during the event.

Tickets for the Corn Maze event are $25 for adults ages 12 and over. Anyone under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets can be purchased online at www.TexasStateRR.com or by calling 1-888-987-2461. Tickets also can be purchased on site.

The Texas State Railroad is the Official Railroad of Texas. The historic tourist railroad offers steam and diesel train excursions through the scenic piney woods of East Texas and depart out of both Palestine and Rusk

Special events and dinner trains are held throughout the year.
