Tickets are still available for Living Alternative’s “Fashion for a Passion” fashion show and banquet fund-raiser set for noon Saturday at the Palestine Civic Center.
“We have over 30 models, modeling spring and summer clothing for six participating stores — Cato’s, Coed Shop, Cavender’s Boot City, Island Tans, Jamie’s Therapeutic Touch and The Pink Dot,” Living Alternatives Executive Director Amber Hyatt told the Herald-Press Wednesday. “It’s going to be a lot of fun — great food and great clothes.”
The event will include a catered lunch by Pie in the Sky Catering and entertainment by Palestine Christian contemporary band, the Wonaway Band. Former Living Alternatives of Palestine client Melissa Cosner will give her testimony during the event.
“Women and children will be modeling the clothes,” Hyatt said. “Our youngest model is 3 years old.”
All proceeds will go to Living Alternatives, a Palestine non-profit organization committed to helping families facing an unplanned pregnancy.
“Every single amount of money we earn will go back into the ministry 100 percent, which will go toward abstinence education, teaching healthy life choices, teaching effective parenting skills and offering pregnancy counseling,” Hyatt said. “This past month, we served 108 clients.”
Through its pregnancy and parenting classes, women can earn credits from Living Alternative’s baby store for strollers, car seats, diapers, clothing and other baby items
Tickets for the event are $25, which includes the meal, can be purchased at the door Saturday or from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the Living Alternatives office, located at 1002 S. Magnolia St. (located on the side of the building which houses WIC and Texas Department of State Services offices on Brazos Street).
Those who can’t make the event but want to donate to Living Alternatives can send donations to: Living Alternatives, P.O. Box 2656, Palestine, Texas, 75802.
