Is the idea of cooking fish at home intimidating? Does the fish counter at the grocery store have you wondering what to buy?
Sabor a Pasion Estate & Vineyard is hosting a master cooking class next week to teach simple techniques and offer advice on cooking shellfish and fish filets.
Sabor a Pasion Estate & Vineyard Executive Chef Simon Webster and Tyler Morning Telegraph Food Editor Christine Gardner will serve as the instructors for the class, which will start at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 17.
“Buying fish can be confusing. We will offer suggestions and give the participants some different ways to cook it,” Webster told the Herald-Press Friday.
The class will not only help with fish selection, preparation and sauces, but on wine pairings.
“We should have some wines from FRESH (FRESH by Brookshire's located in Tyler) that will go with the fish dishes,” Webster said.
For example, many people don't know how to cook salmon steaks, something that will be discussed in the class. Techniques and methods will include fileting, grilling, whole fish, oven and broiler.
Some of the recipes will include Rose Steamed Mussels, Shrimp Mousseline and Stuffed Pasta Shells.
“Hopefully, we can inspire them. It should be fun,” Webster said.
Cost is $45 per person. Reservations can be made by calling 903-729-9500.
