PALESTINE — Palestine police are still looking for the person or persons responsible for burgling two local retail establishments last month.

Anyone with any information concerning the June 29 break-ins at the Dollar General, located in the 600 block of Elm Street and the Family Dollar, located in the 300 block of Spring Street, is urged to call the Palestine Police Department at  903-729-2254 or Crime Stoppers at 903-729-(TIPS) 8477.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of the suspects involved in these incidents.

Police were able to review each store’s surveillance videos on-site and report the suspect appeared to be a thin male of unknown ethnicity, wearing a black shirt, dark shorts and tennis shoes, but had his face partially covered with his shirt.

Department officials said one store has provided police with a copy of the security video, but were unable to derive a better description from that tape. Police officials said they are still waiting for the second store to provide its security tape.

Police reports indicate the suspect used what appeared to be a metal bar to smash the front glass at both stores sometime during the night of Saturday, June 29. Investigators conducted searches of both businesses and surrounding areas, but found no suspects.

One or two cell phones were reported missing from each store.
