Anderson County Judge lifts burn ban order

PALESTINE — Due to recent rains, Anderson County Judge Robert Johnston lifted the outdoor burn ban order on Thursday that was recently approved by county commissioners.

The 90-day burn ban was effective at noon on Dec. 10, with the stipulation that it could be lifted at any time by the commissioners court if weather conditions change.

A state law approved by Anderson County commissioners in 2011 gives the county judge authority to order or revoke burn bans without commissioners court approval.

While the order allows county residents — those living in unincorporated areas — to resume burning, outdoor burning is never permitted within the city limits.
