Suspects arrested in trailer theft

— Anderson County sheriff’s authorities have two suspects in custody and say they will arrest a third in the near future in relation to last month’s theft of a 18-foot utility trailer off property in the southern part of the county.

Robert Lee Gomez, 39, of Palestine and Tommy Lynn Johnson, 28, of Tennessee Colony are currently in the Anderson County Jail each in lieu of a $75,000 bond on the felony charge of theft between $1,500 and $20,000/engaging in organized criminal activity, according to Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor.

A third suspect, 18-year-old Brian Scott Foster of Palestine, is presently at a known location and will be arrested on the same charge in the near future, the sheriff added.

Authorities say a 18-foot trailer valued at $1,600 was stolen from property in the 1500 block of CR 151 on or about Jan. 20.

“Later that day, we obtained information where the trailer could be located and it was located on CR 2136 (in the 1700 block),” Taylor said. “...Through investigation, we believe they moved it to this property on 2136 until they could sell it.”

The sheriff said investigators believe all three suspects “participated in taking it (the trailer) off the property” on CR 151.

Gomez was arrested on Jan. 23 on an unrelated charge and already in the Anderson County Jail when he was served with a warrant on the engaging in organized criminal activity charge, according to Taylor.

Johnson, meanwhile, was arrested Thursday afternoon without incident at a residence in the 300 block of West Lacy Street,  according to authorities.
