The Palestine YMCA will hold a “Heart Happy Super Saturday” event Saturday featuring a preview of the Y's fitness classes, the family-friendly game “Ga Ga Ball,” free chair massages, blood pressure checks and other activities for all ages.
In conjunction with Heart Awareness Month, the YMCA is hosting the event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday to draw awareness to heart disease. This event is open to the public with a $5 donation for the American Heart Association.
“We here at the YMCA are committed to help people to work towards a healthier lifestyle, which leads to a healthier heart. We will be showing off some of our great group fitness instructors previewing the classes they love to teach. We will cap off our Super Saturday with the launch of BODYPUMP™ release 88,” YMCA Wellness Coordinator Ryan Pence said. “We also will have message therapists giving chair messages and also free blood pressure checks done by Resolutions Weight Loss Center. Also we will have our Rock Climbing Wall open and you can check out the coolest game around — Ga Ga Ball — a game fun for the whole family.”

Cardiovascular disease, including heart disease and stroke, costs the United States $312.6 billion each year. This total includes the cost of health care services, medications, and lost productivity. These conditions also are leading causes of disability, preventing Americans from working and enjoying family activities, according to information from the American Heart Association.
